WHAT A WEEK! JOURNEYING WITH JESUS ON HOLY WEEK
Pastor James W. Lewis
We concluded the first day of Holy Week with a powerful observance of Palm Sunday on April 2 (sometimes observed as Passion Sunday). Jesus and his disciples used the home of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus in Bethany as their “Holiday Inn” during this life-transforming week. Each day of Holy Week reveals an increasing wave of conflict that Jesus would face even as the Cross of Calvary loomed ever closer on the divine horizon.
I challenge all members of The Park and every Believer to meditate on Jesus’ journey to the Cross and highlighted by the glory of Easter/Resurrection Sunday! Members of The Park received daily scriptural readings that are intended to describe significant aspects of Jesus’ experiences and teachings during Holy Week: Among the many significant experiences of Holy Week, I highlight the following ones to note:
1. Thursday, April 6, Maundy Thursday (Feet Washing and Lord’s Supper)
2. Friday, April 7, Good Friday ( Jesus tried, mocked, crucified, buried}
3. Saturday, April 8, Holy Saturday (Day of Silence: Jesus in the Grave}
4. Sunday April 9, Easter/Resurrection ( He Lives! He is not Dead!}
So, please read those scriptural passages each day at a time convenient for you: meditate on them, write down any thoughts you might have, pray for the Lost among us and in our world, and embrace and share the gospel with all those the Holy Spirit blesses you to meet. Therefore, let us all embrace the Hope of the gospel and share it in both words and deeds.
Lastly, arrive early, if possible, to prepare to celebrate and to greet one another and all our guests. Let’s demonstrate Christian hospitality and generosity to everyone who steps on the property and into the building on Easter morning.
He is alive forever more!
Peace!
